How shared sweepstakes work
You may have seen more than one company announce the same sweepstakes winner. That can happen when brands participate in a shared sweepstakes rather than operating separate drawings. Here is what that means and how to determine whether a particular Synister Speed promotion is shared.
What is a shared sweepstakes?
A shared sweepstakes is one promotion in which multiple participating brands may promote the same prize and drawing. Eligible entries received through the participating channels are included in the entry pool described in the Official Rules. One potential winner is then randomly selected from that applicable pool.
This differs from several companies each running a completely separate drawing for an identical prize.
Does each participating brand select its own winner?
One shared winner: No. The promotion has one drawing and one potential winner across the shared entry pool. Participating brands may each announce that confirmed winner because each brand participated in promoting the same sweepstakes.
Why might the same winner appear on multiple websites?
If several brands participated in the same promotion, each brand may publish the result for its customers. This does not mean the same person separately won multiple drawings. It means the brands are reporting the outcome of the shared promotion.
Where do Synister Speed entries go?
Entries attributed to Synister Speed are handled according to the applicable Official Rules and the administrator's procedures.
Why Should I Enter Through Synister Speed?
While you can win the $100,000 cash prize by entering the sweepstakes through any partnering brands, you have to enter through Synister Speed to be given the option to take on of our cars home as an alternate prize. So if you want to take home one of our amazing rides like our Audi RS6, Mercedes G Wagon, Jeep Trackhawk, etc. You have to enter through us!
Why do Shared Sweepstakes exist?
Shared sweepstakes give smaller business and brands (like us!) the chance to offer amazing prizes to their customers via a shared sweepstakes that they cannot afford to sponsor by themselves. Contrary to popular belief, starting and running an Automotive sweepstakes brand is incredibly tough and has razor thin margins most of the time. While it is a dream job for everyone here at Synister Speed HQ, we can only keep this awesome brand and future sweepstakes going as long as we are profitable and the bills are paid.
Does a shared pool affect the odds?
The odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible entries in the applicable drawing. If eligible entries from multiple participating brands are combined, all those entries contribute to the total entry pool. The Official Rules should disclose that the odds depend on the number of eligible entries received.
No company can truthfully provide fixed odds before the drawing unless the number of eligible entries is capped and known.
Who administers and sponsors the promotion?
These roles are not always the same:
-
Sponsor: The legal entity responsible for sponsoring the sweepstakes, as named in the Official Rules.
-
Administrator: The entity that manages functions such as entry processing, the random drawing and winner verification.
-
Participating or promoting brand: A brand, such as Synister Speed, that markets the promotion and may provide an entry channel.
-
Prize provider: The entity responsible for supplying or fulfilling the prize, if different.
For the current promotion, the roles are:
-
Sponsor: Shared Sweeps LLC
-
Administrator: Shared Sweeps LLC
-
Synister Speed's role: Partner Brand
-
Prize provider: Shared Sweeps LLC
How to verify the structure of a promotion
Read the Official Rules—not just an advertisement or social caption. Look for the named sponsor and administrator, entry methods, eligible entry pool, prize, drawing date and odds disclosure.
Review the current Official Rules or contact us at help@synisterspeed.com if you need help locating the rules for an older promotion.
